BREW GUIDES
Resources to help you brew a better cup. These are my go-to’s and should be used as a guide only in your brewing journey. The guides are directional, you can scale up using the coffee to water ratios accordingly.
Aeropress - Immersion Brewing
13g coffee to 200g water (1:15.38 coffee to water ratio)
Medium fine grind
90c water temp
I like to do a 200g pour with a slight agitation to make sure the coffee grounds are saturated. Wait three minutes and then plunge with the weight of your hand. It should take about 45 seconds to complete. This recipe works with any roast level and always delivers great outcomes.
Flash Brewed Iced Coffee
Can be brewed on: Chemex / Hario V60 / Coffee Maker
Grind size is medium course for a pour over, slightly finer than batch brew
1:16 coffee to water ratio - e.g. 25g coffee to 400g water
60% of this will be hot / 40% of this will be ice
Brewing recipe using 25g coffee
1. Bloom double the amount of the coffee you’re brewing (50g pour for 25g coffee for example) for one minute.
2. 1:00 Pour to 175g
3. 1:30 Pour to 240g and let it draw down
4. Add 160g ice and swirl to rapidly cool
5. Enjoy straight or add whatever you like - if it’s good, it’s good!
Cold Brew Concentrate
You’ll need a brewer like one from Toddy (my favorite)
Darker roasted coffees tend to work best
Brewing ratio I use is 1:7
Grind course
Add the ground coffee and water to your brew and steep for 12 hours at room temperature. Remove the coffee grounds and refrigerate.
Cold brew concentrate will last at least a week or two if kept in an air tight sealed container.
Add equal part water to the amount of cold brew concentrate you want to use.
Add anything additional you want to make it enjoyable!
